A conversation with Bonnie Nardi

I had an amazing conversation with Bonnie Nardi this morning, Informatics scholar and author of the upcoming book “My life as a Night Elf Priest: An Anthropological Account of World of Warcraft.”

Below, you will find an audio recording of a conversation I had with Bonnie Nardi this morning. Bonnie is a faculty member in the Department of Informatics in the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences at University of California, Irvine.  Along with a fascinating list of courses taught on the connectivity of technology and social culture, Bonnie is about to release a book published concerning her experiences inside World of Warcraft.

I had the privilege of speaking with her this morning, through the referral of a mutual friend, and I was absolutely fascinated with our conversation.  It was not my original intention to post our interaction publicly, but the content was too interesting to pass up (with her approval of course!). Her book, “My life as a Night Elf Priest: An Anthropological Account of World of Warcraft,” is set for release sometime in June and chronicles her in-game experience as a raider, and guild member in WoW. I’m pretty excited about reading it given the fascinating content of our conversation today. You can find more info on Bonnie here and on her blog. Keep an eye out for her book release this summer!

This convo really puts it all into perspective.

I just wondered, is there a section on this website which is dedicated to updates? if so where abouts is it?
