PRESS RELEASE
New York, NY
August 10, 2010

“The Raid” is a documentary detailing the social connections of a successful World of Warcraft guild (community of players), bringing perspective and opinion to the growing culture of social video game communities around the world.

“The Raid” features an in-depth look at the community of “Months Behind,” on the U.S. Eredar server of World of Warcraft, as they make their way through Heroic Icecrown Citadel to defeat the Lich King. The film follows this group of players for over three months capturing them on webcams, recording their voice communication, going in-game for cinematic coverage, and traveling the country to meet with them individually. For more info feel free to visit the film’s website at http://www.jointheraid.com.

This film was made almost entirely from the funding and promotional support of the World of Warcraft fan community.

We are seeking corporate sponsorship to support the “Pre-Screening” event at this year’s Blizzcon in efforts to draw media support and distribution interest in the film. This screening will be pivotal in garnering the feedback and input of the community that helped to create it!

Hi there – came across the article in Beckett’s MOG (which incidentally featured our guild (SYNERGY of Grizzly Hills) as “GUILD of the MONTH” this month :) and thought what a fabulous idea you’ve come up with! I’m sure you’ll be able to find some investors. I’m unable to go to BlizzCon :( but will be waiting to see your film as soon as it’s available. Good luck!
